| The World Famous Ashdown Mummers is a group dedicated to the
performance of a traditional Sussex Mumming Ritual, and some of the lesser known ancient fertility dances. Participants travel from far and wide for the privilege of taking part. Their name is taken from the forest area in which they were founded, in the heart of the Sussex countryside, coupled with the title World Famous bestowed whilst touring Scotland. Although the side is loosely based in the Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, we are in reality more of a Travelling Morris side. Our membership is spread around the south east of England and we dance wherever someone is willing to organise an event. |
