| Every Christmastide since 1973 the World Famous Ashdown Mummers have brought their traditional Sussex Mummers' Play to hostelries around the Ashdown Forest and the surrounding area of Sussex. With a 'Real' Father Christmas, a Doctor (for rough evenings), various shady characters including Beelzebub, and of course St George and the Turkish Knight, altogether make it a night to remember (or not). See them all in our Character line-up. | ![]() |

At other times of the year we can be seen out dancing the ancient
Morris-Dances from the Borders. The Welsh border villages in Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester and a few distinct dances from other areas of the country. But more importantly, we enjoy ourselves and hope our audiences do so as well. It is customary that, having been fortunate to witness one of these rare performances, the onlooker contributes to the Bag (for the benefit of local charities), which in turn will assure their good luck and fertility, during the year. |
